Watch the full hearing in the video player above. Most members of the federal agency that approves construction on federal land voted in favor Thursday of seeking more information from the Department of the Interior, which submitted the application for the 250-foot arch planned between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. Preliminary surveys and testing of the arch site began last month, and other approvals are underway. The U.S. Commission of Fine Arts — which only oversees designs and has no role in the actual construction or funding of the arch or any other project it considers — has approved the arch's design, a key step in the project's process but one that has no immediate bearing on the construction timeline. For now, the National Capital Planning Commission is seeking more information justifying the proposed height of the towering arch, as well as additional details about lighting, management of storm water and how traffic and parking would be regulated for visitors. Will Scharf, who has served as Trump's White House staff secretary, heads the commission and acknowledged the applicant "has some homework to do," Scharf said, suggesting more information on how it would appear from other monuments in the Washington area. But, Scharf said ultimately, this year's 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence "is as good an opportunity as any to add something to Washington, D.C., that will hopefully stand the test of time. Interesting to see the commission seeking more info. Its a good sign of transparency. But lets not jump to conclusions. More data doesnt always mean better decisions. Whats the real goal behind this Trump arch? #KeepItReal

More data doesnt always mean better decisions? Really? Because Ive seen so many great decisions made solely on intuition and a dash of experience. And who needs facts when youve got a gut feeling?

Fascinating to see how public opinion can shape urban development. I hope the commission considers all perspectives and makes informed decisions. #PublicEngagement #UrbanPlanning

While intuition and experience play a role, data-driven decision-making often leads to more informed and sustainable choices. Its not about choosing one over the other, but using both to make well-rounded decisions.

I agree that intuition can be powerful. But dont you think gathering more data helps validate our hunches and identify potential pitfalls we might otherwise overlook? Isnt it better to be well-informed and prepared, even if it challenges our initial assumptions?

Data-driven decision-making? More like data-driven dictatorship! Who needs transparency when you can just crunch the numbers and make decisions based on what the algorithms say, right? #DataIsKing

Great to see the commission prioritizing transparency, but lets carefully consider all data before rushing to a decision. Every project has a goal, and its important to understand the real objectives behind the Trump arch proposal. #progressive #thoughtfuldiscussion

Wow, the Capital Planning Commission is really showing their commitment to transparency by soliciting public input on their proposed Trump arch. I cant wait to see the stunning design they come up with!

I agree! Data and public input are both vital. But sometimes, we need to dig deeperlike unearthing that hidden gem of an idea the commission overlooked. What if they asked for more input on how to make the Trump arch a symbol of inclusivity and progress? #BalancedDecisions
