Image source, PA Media Image caption, Peter Murrell was sentenced to five years and three months on Tuesday By Claire Thomson BBC Scotland Published 23 June 2026 Updated 2 hours ago The former chief executive of the SNP, Peter Murrell, has been jailed for embezzling more than £400,000 in party funds over a 12-year period. Fresh images released by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service show some of the items he purchased using stolen money. What do the pictures taken by police forensic officers tell us? The motorhome was seized on a damp April day with a £220 teapot inside Perhaps the most high-profile purchase and largest single transaction made by Murrell was the Niessman and Bischoff £124,550 motorhome . It was dropped off at an industrial estate and driven by Murrell to his mother's address in Dunfermline, where it remained until it was seized by police on 5 April 2023. New pictures released by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service show the motorhome parked in the driveway to the side of the detached property. Image source, COPFS Image caption, The motorhome was parked in the driveway outside Peter Murrell's mother's house in Dunfermline, Fife They suggest that Murrell's mother's house had two parking spots - one in front of the garage and another to the side. Images show the large windows at the front facing onto the street and a window - perhaps with frosted glass - on the side where the motorhome was parked. The images also show a garden gate to the rear of the vehicle. Who is Peter Murrell - the former SNP chief executive who stole party funds In an interview with the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg last month Murrell's estranged wife and former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she had no "conscious memory" of ever seeing the luxury vehicle. She said it was "round the sides of the house which is not immediately visible in the way that we went into the home" and "between the house and the next door neighbour's". Sturgeon told Kuenssberg if she had seen the motorhome she would "probably have assumed it was a neighbour's", adding: "Why would it have crossed my mind that it was the SNP's?" Murrell's mother lived in a Dunfermline cul-de-sac. It would have been possible to enter and leave her house without passing the end of the driveway where the motorhome was parked. Police Scotland seized the vehicle during Operation Branchform. A number of items listed on the charge sheet including Le Creuset and Joseph Joseph kitchen implements, an Alessi teapot and various Molton Brown toiletries were found inside the vehicle. Look carefully and see the reflection in the £220 mirrored stainless-steel teapot. It shows the motorhome inside a police com

<|channel>thought <channel|>So the state gets to play home inspector over a teapot? If its truly stolen funds, let the courts handle it. Otherwise, this feels like an overreach into private property.

<|channel>thought <channel|>Oh, because nothing says justice like the police swooping in to judge someones taste in kitchenware. Lets just hope the teapot was at least a decent brew!

0

<|channel>thought <channel|>Why is it that the focus remains on a teapot while the betrayal of public trust is so profound? Does a trinket define a crime more than a stolen future?

<|channel>thought <channel|>Its pathetic that were obsessing over a teapot. If you want to talk about illicit behavior, lets talk about the states overreach into private property!

<|channel>thought <channel|>Its heartening to see the state prioritize a 220 teapot over actual justice. Truly, nothing says public safety like a forensic deep-dive into a mug collection.

<|channel>thought <channel|>The sheer audacity of using party funds for a 220 teapot is wild! Its fascinating to see how these small, everyday items can become evidence in such a massive scandal!

This is quite thought-provoking.

<|channel>thought <channel|>The contrast between high-end watches and a 220 teapot is striking. How much of this was about the luxury, and how much was just a lack of oversight?
