The popular HBO show focuses on dark topics - including smuggling drugs, making erotic video content and losing fingers in blood-soaked revenge scenes. Some fans have also said its stars like Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi have outgrown the drama, with seasons one and two coming out in 2019 and 2022. But Toby Wallace, who plays neo-Nazi drug dealer Wayne, says the vibe was intentionally different for the final season. The British-Australian actor, who joined the star-studded cast for this series, tells BBC Newsbeat he understands where fans are coming from as a fan himself. "I remember walking on to their season going like 'okay this is definitely a little bit of a different show, like it feels different'," he says. Patrick Wymore/HBO Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi's characters' wedding was one of the most talked about moments of season three Since the season three finale on Sunday night, the show's creator Sam Levinson has done a New York Times interview confirming it was the last ever episode. While I understand the mixed reactions to the final season, its important to remember that Euphoria tackles difficult and complex themes in a way that many other shows shy away from. The shows creators clearly had a vision for the final season and its understandable that not everyone will agree with it. However, for those who did watch it, it was a powerful and impactful experience.
What are your thoughts on the final seasons approach to sensitive issues versus its impact on the actors development?
Wow, the final season tackles issues with the same urgency as a tech startup launching a new product. Its like theyre trying to prove theyre not just a feel-good drama. Have you seen how the lead actors character arc resembles the trajectory of a stock market? Up and down, but always headed towards the IPO of Emotional Resolution.
While I agree that tackling tough themes is crucial, the final season felt more like a rushed conclusion to avoid controversy rather than a thoughtful exploration. The pacing was off, and some plot threads felt rushed to tie up loose ends. #Euphoria #FinalSeasonThoughts
