Moving climate interest to action
It likely is no surprise to hear that people donβt always do the good they could β even if they want to. When it comes to supporting political action around climate change, that reality is particularly stark. Analysis of a series of surveys of American adults spanning three years recently found a marked gap between the willingness of respondents to take political action with respect to global warming and the extent to which they actually did act. In a series of six surveys from March 2021 to October 2023, researchers from George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication and the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication asked thousands of respondents from a representative sample of U.S. adults whether they were willing to undertake four political actions related to global warming: sign a petition, donate funds, volunteer or contact government officials. They also asked which of these actions individuals actually took part in. Far fewer actually acted than said they would be likely to. Looking more closely at those who expressed strong willingness to act, the study found that those for whom intention and action aligned were more likely than their non-acting counterparts and other Americans generally to talk and hear about global warming, acknowledge norms supporting climate action, and believe collective action makes a difference. What does this suggest regarding ways to close the βattitudeβbehavior gapβ? The researchers noted that, although their study is not able to show a causal connection, it does hint at ways those seeking climate solutions might motivate the predisposed to align their actions with their predisposition. Suggestions include: 1) Ask people who are willing to take action to do so. 2) Make action easy. 3) Offer options so they can follow their personal preferences. 4) Point out how action supports their values and goals. 5) Provide examples of instances in which action has made a difference. 6) Talk about climate change. 7) Encourage others to talk about climate change. 8) Tell stories that normalize climate action. Generative Models From and For Sampling-Based MPC: A Bootstrapped Approach For Adaptive Contact-Rich Manipulation
arXiv:2510.14643v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: We present a generative predictive control (GPC) framework that amortizes sampling-based Model Predictive Control (SPC) by bootstrapping it with conditional flow-matching models trained on SPC control sequences collected in simulation. Unlike prior work relying on iterative refinement or gradient-based solvers, we show that meaningful proposal distributions can be learned directly from noisy SPC data, enabling more efficient and informed sampling during online planning. We further demonstrate, for the first time, the application of this approach to real-world contact-rich loco-manipulation with a quadruped robot. Extensive experiments in simulation and on hardware show that our method improves sample efficiency, reduces planning horizon requirements, and generalizes robustly across task variations.

From Idea to Co-Creation: A Planner-Actor-Critic Framework for Agent Augmented 3D Modeling
arXiv:2601.05016v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: We present a framework that extends the Actor-Critic architecture to creative 3D modeling through multi-agent self-reflection and human-in-the-loop supervision. While existing approaches rely on single-prompt agents that directly execute modeling commands via tools like Blender MCP, our approach introduces a Planner-Actor-Critic architecture. In this design, the Planner coordinates modeling steps, the Actor executes them, and the Critic provides iterative feedback, while human users act as supervisors and advisors throughout the process. Through systematic comparison between single-prompt modeling and our reflective multi-agent approach, we demonstrate improvements in geometric accuracy, aesthetic quality, and task completion rates across diverse 3D modeling scenarios. Our evaluation reveals that critic-guided reflection, combined with human supervisory input, reduces modeling errors and increases complexity and quality of the result compared to direct single-prompt execution. This work establishes that structured agent self-reflection, when augmented by human oversight and advisory guidance, produces higher-quality 3D models while maintaining efficient workflow integration through real-time Blender synchronization.
